Men’s Soccer Defeated At Concordia 4-3

Post Outshoots Concordia 25-11

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – After battling back from a 3-0 deficit to tie the game, a late goal by Concordia was the difference as the Post men's soccer team was defeated 4-3 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action on Wednesday afternoon.

The Clippers opened up the scoring early as Jonathan Short put Concordia ahead in just the second minute. Jesus Alvarez-Riesco extended the advantage to 2-0 with a goal from the top of the box. A penalty kick by Ovan Oakley put Concordia ahead 3-0 in the 18th minute.

Junior Raphael Moura (Danbury, Conn.) put the Eagles on the board in 30th minute on a penalty kick as Post headed into the break down 3-1.

Post came out firing in the second half, outshooting the Clippers 16-6 in the period. The Eagles narrowed the deficit to 3-2 as a throw-in by junior Jacob Butler-Bowdon (Adelaide, Australia) found senior Mamadou Balde (Conakry, Guniea) for a score in the 60th minute.

The Eagles knotted the score less a minute later as junior Francisco Sastre (Sao Paolo, Brazil) headed it over the keeper on a pass from Butler-Bowdon.

Post continued to get chances on offense. In the 77th minute a shot by Sastre hit the crossbar. Oakley dribbled past the defense in the 84th minute for the winning score.

The Eagles return home on Saturday, Sept. 20 against Goldey-Beacom at Municipal Stadium. Game time is set for 2 p.m.
