PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - Senior
Renel Dennis (Queens, N.Y.) had a hat trick - in just the first half - making it five goals in her last two games as the Post University Eagles women's soccer team romped Chestnut Hill, 6-0 in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference game in Philadelphia.
With the win, the Eagles improve to 3-1 overall and 2-0 in the CACC.
The Eagles struck early, the same way they did against Caldwell as Dennis took a shot from the left side of the goal off a pass from junior
Lexxi Carroll (Plainville, Conn.) into the top right to put Post up 1-0 in the fourth minute.
Eleven minutes later, Dennis used her lightning speed to track down a ball on a pass from senior
Tessa Dunster (Stamford, Conn.) to beat the defender to score her second goal of the game.
Dennis wasn't done yet as she chased down a long serve by senior
Brina Yanez (West Haven, Conn.) and put it past Samantha Pauls to give the Eagles an insurmountable 3-0 lead in just the 21st minute.
Senior
Eryka Baez (Clifton, N.J.) also got in on the scoring action as she took advantage of a rebound from sophomore
Sylvia Yanez (West Haven, Conn.) to put it past Paul and give the Eagles a 4-0 lead.
The Eagles did not let up in the second half, as freshman
Katharina Mertz (Buxtehude, Germany) scored her third goal in four games in the 63rd minute after capitalizing on a turnover from the Griffins.
Sylvia Yanez put the final nail in the coffin as she took an errant bounce off of Paul after a shot by freshman
Angela Ciaramella (Hamden, Conn.) to give the Eagles a 6-0 advantage.
The Eagles were dominant in every offensive facet of the game, outshooting the Griffins 24-10.
Junior
Brittany Carroll (Plainville, Conn.) had two saves in the first half. Classmate
Laura Morgan (Brush Prairie, Washngton) came in in the second and finished with one save.
With the win, the Eagles are now tied for first place in the CACC. In the losing effort, the Griffins fall to 0-3-0 overall and 0-2-0 in the conference.
Up next for the Eagles is a home game against Goldey-Beacom at 4 p.m. on September 20 at LaMoy Field.
