Men’s Soccer Drops CACC Opener At Chestnut Hill

Eagles Outshoot Griffins 16-13 In Defeat

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The No. 25 Post University men's soccer team fell to Chestnut Hill 3-0 on Saturday afternoon in its Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) opener. The Eagles fall to 1-2 overall and 0-1 in conference play on the young season.

Three second-half goals were the difference as each team was held scoreless in the first. Post outshot Chestnut Hill 7-6 in the opening half including 3-2 on goal. The Eagles two chances midway through the half as shots by seniors Donald Fossie (Yaounde, Cameroon) and Mamadou Balde (Conakry, Guinea) were saved by the Griffins' keeper.

The Eagles appeared to have the momentum early in the second half as they recorded the first four shots of the half. Balde had another chance in the 57th minute, but it was saved once again.

Chestnut Hill got on the board in the 65th minute as Juan Amaya scored. Five minutes later the Griffins struck again on a goal from the right side by Nicholas Jaffe. Jaffe added the final score on a corner kick in the 76th minute.

In the 80th minute, freshman Dany Gomes (Sao Nicolau, Cape Verde) had two back-to-back chances to put Post on the board, but was unsuccessful.

Post will look to get back on track at Concordia on Wednesday, Sept. 17 at 3 p.m.
