Post Men’s Tennis Clinches CACC Tournament Bid

Eagles Win Program-Record Seventh Match of the Season



MIDDLEBURY, Conn. –  The Post University men's tennis team clinched its first-ever Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Tournament berth with a 5-4 victory over Philadelphia on Friday, April 11. The victory was the Eagles program-record seventh win of the season and their first-ever victory over the Rams.
 
In doubles, Post came out with one point. Junior Nicholas Tadros (Montreal, Quebec) and sophomore Peter Fanous (Cairo, Egypt) won 8-4 at second doubles. Senior Jonythan Young (Norwalk, Conn.) and freshman Tyler Reufenacht (Sandy Hook, Conn.) fell short after having two match points, losing 9-8(10-8) at number three.
 
In singles, Eagles claimed four points to secure their spot in the CACC playoffs. Sophomore David Narovec (Linz, Austria) beat Long Vo 6-2, 6-0 to earn the second point of the day. Senior Danny Bonamassa (Staten Island, N.Y.) earned the third point at number six singles defeating Matthew Gernmani 7-5, 6-4 while freshman Alejandro Perez (Columbia) tied the overall score 4-4 by winning his eleventh singles mathc of the season 6-2, 6-3 against Dylan Bhaerman at number three.
 
It all came down to the number two singles where Fanous battled back from one set down and saved two match points in the second set tie breaker to claim the victory for the Eagles 1-6, 7-6(10-8), 6-2.
 
On Thursday afternoon the Eagles lost 9-0 to No. 6 Concordia in Bronxville, N.Y.
 
The Eagles got swept in doubles. Young and Reufenacht battled at the third spot but lost 8-3.
 
In singles, Reufenacht won the most game for the Eagles, losing 6-2 6-1 at number five.
 
Post is back at home for its final regular season game of the year on Saturday, April 19 against USciences at 1 p.m.
