SPARKILL, N.Y. – The Post University men's tennis team snapped its six game losing streak with a 6-3 win over non-conference foe Saint Thomas Aquinas in Sparkill, N.Y. Thursday afternoon.
The Eagles (1-6) came out of doubles with one point. Junior
Jonathyn Young (Norwalk, Conn.) and freshman
Tyler Rudenacht (Sandy Hook, Conn.) paired at number three doubles for an 8-3 win. Junior
Nicholas Tadros (Montreal, Quebec) and sophomore
Peter Fanous (Cairo, Egypt) rallied back from a 7-2 deficit to tie the game 8-8 at second doubles. The duo dropped a close tiebreaker to fall 9-8 (7-5).
In singles action, senior
Danny Bonamassa (Staten Island, N.Y.) and freshman
Alejandro Perez (Colombia) won their fourth singles matches of the year. Perez battled from one set down to beat Javier Munoz-Laguna 3-6, 6-4, 10-5, while Bonamassa cruised easily at number six beating Thomas Schumann 6-0, 6-1.
Fanous defeated Antoine Venard at the number three spot, 6-3, 6-1. Sophomore
David Narovec (Linz, Austria) won his first singles match of the year, beating William Tronsor 7-5, 6-4 at number four, while Redenacht wrapped up the day with a 6-1, 6-4 win at number five.
The Eagles open their conference schedule against Chestnut Hill on Friday, March 21 at Edgewood Bath and Tennis in Middlebury, Conn. First serve set for 2 p.m.
