The Griffins rebounded a Strong miss on the other end and Noel Hightower made a second-chance layup with 1:00 remaining to put Chestnut Hill ahead 70-69. Post was forced to foul after a turnover and Jakeem Bogans hit two from the foul line with 0:17 left to extend the visitor's lead to 72-69.

Senior Zach Krischer (Port Jefferson, N.Y.) missed a three-pointer with 0:07 left and the Eagles fouled the Griffins again. Hightower missed both free-throws, but Post was unable to get a shot off before time expired.

After falling behind by as many as seven in the first half, the Eagles ended the period on a 14-6 run to take a 34-33 lead into the break. Senior Jerry Cummings (Queens, N.Y.) scored four of his 13 points during the comeback.

Post extended its advantage to five points early in the second half after two free-throws by Tatum. The Eagles led throughout most of the final period but were unable to score in the final 3:23 of the game.
