Men’s Basketball Falls At Home To AIC, 75-66

Seymour Leads Four Eagles In Double Figures With 16 Points

WATERBURY, Conn. – The Post University men's basketball team was defeated by American International 75-66 in a non-conference affair Wednesday afternoon. Junior David Seymour (Amityville, N.Y.) led the Eagles with 16 points on the day. Freshman Joseph Lockwood (London, England) added a double-double with 12 points and a career-high 12 rebounds.

Post used the three-ball out of the gate to jump out to an early lead. Junior Brandt Voiles (Byron, Ill.) hit two from distance over the first four minutes as the Eagles led 8-4. After a three-pointer by freshman Tyler Desrosiers (Agawam, Mass.), Seymour capitalized on a Yellow Jackets turnover to put Post in front 16-8, its largest lead of the first half.

American International never led in the first half. Each time it pulled close senior Nardie Bogues (Baltimore, Md.) found Voiles behind the arc to extend the Eagles' advantage. Voiles was 4-for-5 from distance in the opening half and Post led 29-27 at the break.

The Yellow Jackets pulled ahead to start the second half with an 11-3 run. Cameron Dobbs hit a jumper with 15:41 left to give AIC a 38-31 lead. After Dobbs hit from distance again with 12:34 left, Desrosiers hit one of his own to spark a 9-2 Post run that cut the deficit to 45-43.

The Eagles were unable to get any closer as the Yellow Jackets opened a 66-52 advantage with just under four minutes left. Post would not quit though as freshman Kyle Squire (Cheshire, England) and Bogues each hit three-pointers to draw the Eagles within five points with just 24 seconds left. AIC made two free-throws on the other end to put the game away.

Post held a slim 42-41 advantage on the board. The Yellow Jackets outscored the Eagles 42-18 in the paint. Trahmier Burrell led AIC with 24 points.

The Eagles return to action on Saturday, Jan. 3 against USciences. Game time is set for 3 p.m.
