Men’s Basketball Downs Felician 83-69

Mareno Records Double-Double In Victory

WATERBURY, Conn. – Three Eagles finished in double-figures on Wednesday night at the Post men's basketball team defeated Felician 83-69 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action at the Drubner Center. Freshman Matt Mareno recorded his second double-double of the season with a team-high 21 points and 10 boards.

Post (3-3, 2-1 CACC) led from start to finish except for a short two-point deficit in the first half. The Eagles were hot from outside to start the game as junior David Seymour (Amityville, N.Y.) and senior Nardie Bogues (Baltimore, Md.) hit early threes. Bogues hit his second three of the game at the 17:24 mark to give Post an 11-7 lead.

The Eagles maintained a slim lead throughout the first half and were never ahead by more than six. Damiun Moore made a three and Tim Massado hit a layup off a Post turnover to give Felician its only lead of the game at 23-21 with 6:41 left in the first.

Post used the three-ball to build a double-digit lead over the final minutes of the half. Freshman Travis Flagg (Queens, N.Y.) made two down the stretch as the Eagles closed the half on an 18-5 run and led 39-28 at the break. Post made eight three-pointers in the first half.

The Golden Falcons (0-7, 0-3 CACC) slowly chipped away at the deficit over the first 10 minutes of the second half and trailed by just two with 11:08 left in the game. The Eagles put a stop to the comeback bid from there with a 12-0 run to put the game away. Mareno scored 10 of Post's points during the stretch. The Eagles would lead by as many as 17 before it was all over.

Flagg put up a season-high 18 points of the bench, including 12 in the second half, and seven rebounds. He was 8-for-12 from the foul line. Bogues added six points, five assists, and seven boards.

Post returns to action on Saturday at home against Wilmington. Tip-off is set for 3 p.m.
