Eagles Crush Felician as Playoffs Near

Post Defeats Felician 3-0

WATERBURY, Conn. – The Post University women's volleyball team defeated Felician College on Wednesday, Nov. 5 at the Drubner Center. The Eagles roll to their 13th Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) victory of the season in a sweet three sets. The set scores were 25-16, 25-17, and 25-17. Post has defeated the Golden Falcons in both meetings this season.

Sophomore Skylar German (Kansas City, Mo.) and junior Hailey Griffin (Plainfield, Conn.) each landed 10 kills on the night; senior Emily Wilman (Perth Amboy, N.J.) finished close behind with eight. German played a complete game of volleyball, showing that she can be effective from anywhere on the court. German tallied six service aces, seven digs, and four blocks in the match. Senior Julia Slyaktina (Moscow, Russia) set up the offense with 32 assists and scored three service aces against the Falcons, adding to her Division II lead in that category.

Post came out in the first set firing on all cylinders. The Eagle offense erupted for two four-point runs in the early stages of the set to push them ahead 12-4. Felician managed to shrink their deficit to four points, 18-14, but the Eagles ran away with the first set after a late surge and a 7-2 run to win 25-16. Sophomore Nicole Brown (Queens, N.Y.) provided the Eagles a 1-0 set advantage landing a final booming kill splitting two Falcon defenders.

Again, the Eagles made quick work of Felician from the start of the second set featuring a 5-0 run to give Post an 8-3 lead. The Falcons were persistent in making their way back into the set to a relevant three-point deficit, 11-8. The Eagles went on another 9-2 scoring spree highlighted by three consecutive service aces compliments of German to spring ahead 20-10. Post went on to cruise to a 25-17 set victory.

Trailing 6-5 early in the third set, Post strung together a 6-1 run using all hands on deck that proved to be the difference maker in the set. The Eagles were able to maintain a one-point advantage until they opened it up with a 9-3 lead awarded by tenacious defense above the net. German capped off the set 25-17 with one of her thunderous kills to complete the sweep 3-0.

Post improves to 18-10 overall and 13-5 in conference play, remaining in second place in the North Division. Felician falls to 5-19 on the season and 3-16 in the CACC standings.

The Eagles will round out their regular season when they play host to the Tigers of Holy Family University on Senior Day for another CACC showdown at the Drubner Center Saturday, Nov. 8. First serve is scheduled for 12 p.m.
