Wilman Joins Elite Company, Eagles Sweep Concordia

Post Defeats Concordia 3-0

WATERBURY, Conn. – Congratulations to Senior Emily Wilman (Perth Amboy, N.J.) who landed her 1,000th career kill on Tuesday, Nov. 4 in the first set of the match! Wilman has joined the elite 1,000-1,000 club (kills-digs) and is just the fifth player in Post history to record 1,000 career kills.

The Post University women's volleyball team defeated Concordia College on Tuesday, Nov. 4 at the Drubner Center. The Eagles roll to their 12th Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) victory of the season in a sweet three sets. The set scores were 25-23, 25-19, and 25-15. Post has defeated the Clippers in both meetings this season.
Three Eagles recorded double digit kills in the match. Wilman, and sophomores Skylar German (Kansas City, Mo.), and Nicole Brown (Queens, N.Y.) each landed 10 kills against the Clippers. Brown managed to find the seams in the Clipper defense and recorded a .714 hitting percentage on the night.  German was a defensive force above the net, recording seven rejections, three of which were solo blocks. Wilman and the junior libero Janiellee Alvarez (Norwich, Conn.) finished with 12 digs apiece. Senior Julia Slyaktina (Moscow, Russia) quarterbacked the offense with 41 assists and added two service aces.

Post got off to a rocky start in the first set trailing 5-2 in the early stages. With back-to-back kills from Wilman, the Eagles climbed back out in front 7-6. The Eagles gave up the lead once more but found their groove when it matter most and erased the deficit with a 7-2 run behind the service expertise of Slyaktina. Post went on to win the set 25-23 and take a 1-0 advantage in the match.

Again, Post started slow but played a better brand of volleyball as the set progressed. Trailing 5-3 in the early goings, the Eagles managed a six-point swing by means of an 8-2 run to jump ahead 11-7. Post poured it on with another 7-1 run and took a commanding 18-11 lead. The Eagles never looked back and cruised to a 25-19 set victory capped off with a German kill.

The Eagles put on an offensive clinic in the third set firing off a steady dose of two- and three-point runs. Post played a complete set of volleyball, scoring points by means of the kill, service ace, and block. The Eagles continued to build on their lead as the set progressed and finished with a 10 point advantage, 25-15. Wilman recorded her 1,004th career kill to put away the Clippers and complete the sweep.

Post improves to 17-10 overall and 12-5 in conference play, remaining in second place in the North Division. Concordia falls to 4-16 on the season and 3-15 in the CACC standings.

The action continues when the Eagles play host to the Golden Falcons of Felician College on Senior Day for another CACC showdown at the Drubner Center Wednesday, Nov. 5. First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m.
