Post Eliminated From CACC Tournament With 4-0 Loss To Dominican

Eagles Lose In Quarterfinals For First Time Since 2005

ORANGEBURG, N.Y. – The Post University men's soccer team's season came to an end on Tuesday with a 4-0 loss to No. 2 Dominican in the quarterfinals of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Tournament. The Eagles finish the year with a record of 8-8 overall.

"We didn't compete as much as I'd like today. I didn't feel like we were up for the battle. Early on we controlled play, but they scored a great goal and after that I felt like we lost our focus," said head coach Ted Haley.

Matheus Sousa was the story on the day finishing with two goals and two assists. The Eagles failed to record a shot in the first half as Dominican built a 3-0 lead heading into halftime. Sousa scored once and assisted on the other two goals by the Chargers.

Post nearly broke through midway through the second half with back-to-back chances by freshman Stefan Tomasevic (London, England) and senior Mamadee Kamara (Conakry, Guniea), but were unable to score. Junior Mamadee Kamara (Monrovia, Liberia) had a lot shot for the Eagles that was blocked.

"I'm disappointed because we could've fought harder and dome more to get back home for the semis. We're still looking at the possibility of playing the ECAC Tournament," added Haley.

The loss was Post's first in the opening round of the conference tournament since 2005.

Dominican moves on to play No. 6 Wilmington in the CACC Semifinals on Thursday, Nov. 6 at 1:30 p.m. at LaMoy Field.
