LAKEWOOD, N.J. – The Post University volleyball team won the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Tournament on Saturday afternoon by defeating top-seeded Caldwell 3-1. With the victory, the Eagles earn an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament, their first ever appearance. Sophomore
Morgan Griffin (Plainfield, Conn.) was named tournament MVP.

The first set was back and forth with neither team leading by more than two points early. With the score tied 14-14, the Eagles staged and 8-4 run to pull in front 22-18 capped by a kill from sophomore
Skylar German (Kansas City, Mo.). Caldwell batted back to tie the game at 22-22, but Post scored the final three points to take set one 25-22.

In set two, the teams continued to battle, but the Eagles couldn't grab a lead early despite tying the score six times including at 16-16. The Cougars scored three straight points to force a Post timeout. Out of the break, the Eagles closed out the set on a 9-4 run to pull ahead by two sets. Senior
Julia Slyaktina (Moscow, Russia) scored the final point with one of her three aces on the day.

Caldwell led by as many as eight points in the third set. The Eagles forced a late timeout after sophomore
Nicole Brown (Queens, N.Y.) and senior
Emily Wilman (Perth Amboy, N.J.) combined for a block to make the score 23-19, but the Cougars score twice to cut the match deficit to 2-1.

The Cougars looked like they had control of the fourth set after pulling in front 14-10. German brought the Eagles back with three aces and a kill as part of a 5-0 run as Post went ahead for good at 15-14. Caldwell made it interesting near the end by scoring twice after the Eagles held a 24-21 lead. Wilman smashed home the final kill to give Post the title.

German posted an impressive stat line with 21 kills, 21 digs, four aces, and nine total blocks. Brown added nine kills and three blocks. Both, along with Griffin who had six kills and 13 digs, were named to the All-Tournament team.

The Eagles now wait to see who they will play in the NCAA Tournament. The selection show takes place Sunday, November 16 at 10 p.m.
