WATERBURY, Conn. – The Post University men's basketball team opens its regular season this weekend as it heads to Daemen College in Amherst, N.Y. for the ECC-CACC Challenge. The Eagles will face Roberts Wesleyan on Friday night at 6 p.m. and the hosts, Daemen, Saturday at 4 p.m. It is the first time Post has played either of the teams.

SCOUTING THE OPPOSITION
Roberts Wesleyan is participating in its first full season as an NCAA member and is coming off a 13-16 season in 2013-14. The Redhawks were picked to finish 10th in the East Coast Conference (ECC). Their top returner is senior Isaac Medieros who finished in the top-10 in the conference with 16.2 points and 8.9 rebounds per game last year.

Daemen won the ECC Regular Season crown last season with a 21-7 overall record and 17-3 record in conference play and was picked third this year. ECC Preseason Player of the Year Gerald Beverly is back. The senior averaged 18.9 points and 10.0 rebounds a year ago.

PRESEASON POLL
Post was picked to finish fifth in the CACC North Division this year. The Eagles received 41 votes. Bloomfield and Philadelphia were selected to finish first in the North and South Divisions, respectively.

EAGLES IN SEASON OPENERS
Post is 3-8 in season openers dating back to 2003-04. The last time the Eagles won their opening game was in the 2008-09 season where they defeated Adelphi 73-68 on the road. Last season Post fell to Southern New Hampshire 89-72 to start the year.

STARTING FROM SCRATCH
The Eagles return just one player from a year ago in sophomore Rokas Lapsys (Vilnius, Lithuania). Lapsys appeared in just three games, averaging 9.3 minutes per outing. This year's roster features 13 players including six freshman, two sophomores, four juniors, and one senior. The players come from all over the globe with two from England in freshmen Kyle Squire (Cheshire, England) and Joseph Lockwood (London, England) and one from Australia, junior Shannon McCready (Melbourne, Australia) and Lithuania.

ON THE HORIZON
Post opens CACC play on Wednesday, Nov. 19 against Concordia. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m. Last year the Eagles swept the Clippers in two games.
