WATERBURY, Conn. – The Post University women's volleyball team dominated Bloomfield College on Thursday, Oct. 30 at the Drubner Center. The Eagles roll to their 11
th Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) victory of the season in a sweet three sets. The set scores were 25-14, 25-21, and 25-20. The two teams have split the season series 1-1.
Sophomore
Skylar German (Kansas City, Mo.) had herself a night recording a season high 25 kills against the Bears. From the early going, German was the target for the setter and was connecting for thunderous kills picking apart the Bloomfield defense. German finished the match with an extremely efficient hitting percentage of .667. The Bears just didn't have an answer for German as she scored 10 uninterrupted kills without a Bear dig. Junior
Hailey Griffin (Plainfield, Conn.) landed eight kills and four service aces as her sister, sophomore
Morgan Griffin (Plainfield, Conn.) recorded seven kills. Senior
Julia Slyaktina (Moscow, Russia) fed the hungry offense with 41 assists and junior libero
Janiellee Alvarez (Norwich, Conn.) absorbed much of the pressure defensively tallying 15 digs.
The Eagles played a brilliant brand of volleyball against the Bears, moving the ball across the net on offense to find the seams in the Bloomfield defense. The Eagles put it all together on both sides of the ball, making exceptional plays on defense to limit the Bears to only 14 points in the first set. Post got off to a hot start in front of the home crowd jumping out to an early 10-4 lead. Bloomfield only managed to score single points in the midst of Eagle three-point runs. German led the charge with nine kills in the set as Post routed the Bears 25-14 to take a 1-0 advantage.
This is a game of runs, and the second set featured an exciting series of runs that fueled the home team to a comeback victory. With a couple of four-point runs, the Eagles held a 9-5 advantage. Bloomfield responded with a 10-0 swing to take a lead 17-10. After some inspiring words from Coach Brienza in a timeout, the Eagles were rejuvenated and determined to mount a comeback. Post scored a 10-2 run and reclaimed the lead 20-19 compliments of a sequence of kills by the Eagle outside hitters. Riding on momentum, Post finished out the set to win 25-21.
Bloomfield refused to go easy, and the third set was a battle from the start. Both teams matched the others intensity scoring in spurts of three. The Bears led the Eagles 17-15 down the stretch, but Post pulled away with a five-point swing behind the service from
Hailey Griffin . The Eagles completed the sweep defeating the Bears 25-20 in the third set. Feeling reassured after the win, Coach Brienza said, "This is our potential. This is what we can do."
Before the match, the two teams were knotted in a second place tie in the North Division of the CACC. With the victory, Post stands in sole possession of second place with an 11-5 record in CACC play, and 16-10 overall. Bloomfield drops to 10-6 in conference play and 14-12 thus far on the season.

Emily Wilman 's (Perth Amboy, N.J.) quest to join the 1,000-1,000 club will have to wait until Tuesday, Nov. 4 when the Eagles take on the Clippers of Concordia College at the Drubner Center for another CACC showdown at 7 p.m. Wilman needs just six more kills to achieve the milestone.Â
