Eagles Pick up CACC Win in New York

Post Defeats Concordia 3-0

BRONXVILLE, N.Y.– The Post University women's volleyball team defeated Concordia College for its third Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) win of the season on Friday, Oct. 3 as the Eagles swept the Clippers in three sets. The set scores were: 25-15, 25-22, 25-20.

Sophomore Skylar German (Kansas City, Mo.) led all scorers in the match with 12 kills with a .632 attack attempt/kill percentage; she also added eight digs and four blocks on the night. Senior Emily Wilman (Perth Amboy, N.J.) finished with seven kills and a team leading 10 digs. Sophomores Nicole Brown (Queens, N.Y.) and Morgan Griffin (Plainfield, Conn.) added to the kill count with six and five kills respectively. Senior Julia Slyaktina (Moscow, Russia) recorded all but one assist as she organized the Eagle attack sequence with 32 assists against the opposition.

The Eagles showed up to play on the road in the first set as they fell behind early but went on a 6-0 run to take a 9-6 lead. From that point forward, Post never let the Clippers regain the lead. With a serving sequence illustrated by Slyaktina, Post landed four consecutive points to win the set by a 10 point margin, 25-15.

The Clippers managed to pull away with a 12-8 lead in the second set resulting from a five point swing. The Eagles wouldn't let up and battled back to gain the advantage 22-21. The set was capped off by a block assist by Slyaktina and German to capture an Eagle set victory 25-22.

With the timely expertize of the outside hitters, Post was able to showcase a working offense that put together a series of runs that proved to be no match for the Clippers defensive strategy. Post skated to a 25-20 set win and another conference win.

With this CACC victory, Post stands at 3-2 in conference play, and 7-7 overall. Concordia is winless thus far in the CACC standings at 0-6, and has played to a 1-7 overall record on the season.

The Eagles continue conference play on Saturday afternoon, Oct. 4 as Post will host the Lions of Georgian Court University at the Drubner Center. First serve is set for 12 p.m.
