The Post University women's volleyball team dropped its fourth Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) match of the season to Caldwell University in four sets on Wednesday, Oct. 22. The set scores were: 25-21, 21-25, 20-25, and 16-25.

Sophomore Skylar German (Kansas City, Mo.) recorded yet another double-double and led all scorers in the match with 18 kills to complement her 10 digs; German also made her presence known defensively recording a season high seven blocks. Senior Emily Wilman (Perth Amboy, N.J.) and junior Hailey Griffin (Plainfield, Conn.) both finished with eight kills apiece; sophomore Morgan Griffin (Plainfield, Conn.) contributed with six kills and 14 digs. Junior libero Janielle Alvarez (Norwich, Conn.) was busy defensively, coming up with 28 digs on the night.

The Eagles got off to a hot start in the first set, really feeling it offensively in front of the home crowd. Post jumped out to a commanding 19-10 lead over the Cougars by way of the kill. Caldwell answered with a 6-2 run and another late set rally to close the Eagle advantage to three points. With a thunderous kill, Wilman sealed the Eagle set victory 25-21.

The Cougars scored the first five points of the second set. Working from behind, the Eagles managed to keep it close and string together two four-point runs to make their way back into the game and even the score at 19-19. Caldwell finished out the set landing three consecutive points to even the set series at 1-1.

The two squads traded runs to open the third set but the Cougars were one better than the Eagles leading 5-4 in the early stages. The set took a momentum shift when Caldwell ran away with a 9-0 run. Despite a strong performance in the second half, Post was unable to recover from the deficient and Caldwell took the third set 25-20.

With the match on the line, the Eagles had to find a way to spark their offense in the fourth set. Trailing 3-8 early, Wilman was effective from the service line and delivered back-to-back aces as German landed two consecutive kills. The Eagles clawed their way back to a 13-12 advantage. Caldwell held Post to 16 points in the set, closing the match out on a 13-3 run.

The Eagles fall to 8-4 in the CACC standings but remain in second place in the North Division. Caldwell improves to 11-2 in conference play, and 16-7 thus far on the season.

The Eagles continue conference play on Friday, Oct. 24 when they travel to Wilmington, Del. to take on the Goldey-Beacom Lightening. First serve is set for 7 p.m.
