Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Eagles Score Early, But Lose Late

Loss Marks First Losing Streak Of The Season

Waterbury, Conn. - An early goal by the Post University women's soccer team was not enough as it dropped an out of conference game to St. Thomas Aquinas, 2-1 in Sparkill, N.Y. It was the second straight loss for the Eagles. It was also the first time the Eagles have lost two or more consecutive games on the season.

The Eagles are now 8-4 overall and 7-2 in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference.

The quick striking Eagles got on the board very early as CACC leading goal scorer, senior Renel Dennis (Queens, N.Y.) scored her 13th goal of the season, putting the ball past goalkeeper, Amanda Volpe. Freshman Sam Rodriguez (Wayne, N.J.) set up the goal for  Dennis.

Post held the lead for most of the first half before Clarissa Flores scored in the 38th minute for the Spartans, tying the game going into the half.

The game remained scoreless throughout the second half, and looked destined for a tie, but Mallory Rae took a scored on a header header after a free kick from Nisha Flinn, which was then headed by Maddison Lord to the post in the 79th minute.

Up next for the Eagles is their final home game of the season as it takes on Georgian Court in a CACC clash at noon on October 18. The game will also mark senior day for the team.
