Eagles Soar To 3-0 Victory Over Bentley

Butler-Bowden Scores First Goal of the Year

WATERBURY, Conn. – Behind three second-half goals, the Post University men's soccer team snapped its two-game losing streak and defeated Bentley 3-0 at home on Wednesday afternoon. The Eagles outshot the Falcons 17-6 on the afternoon.

Junior Tiago Martins (Porto, Portugal) found classmate Raphael Moura (Danbury, Conn.) in the 64th minute to put the Eagles in front. Moura headed in the Martins cross to the far post for his team-high seventh goal of the year.

Post kept up the pressure and in the 72nd minute junior Jacob Butler-Bowden (Adelaide, Australia) received that ball after a scramble in the box and booted it home for his first goal of the season to put the Eagles in front 2-0.

Junior Saamir Diarra (Mali) added the final tally in the 76th minute as he scored after the Bentley goalkeeper came out of the net to defend him.

Sophomore goalkeepers Jon Hanlon (Centereach, N.Y.) and Serigne Baba Gaye (Dakar, Senegal) combined for the shutout.

The Eagles return to conference play on Saturday, Oct. 18 at home against Georgian Court. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m.
