Late Goal Lifts Philadelphia Over Post, 1-0

Rams Score Winner In 88th Minute

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – In a battle of the top two teams in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) a late goal by Philadelphia was the difference as the Post women' soccer team fell on the road 1-0 on Saturday afternoon. The Eagles are now 8-3 and 7-2 in conference play this season.

"Today was a very hard fought game that could've gone either way. I was proud of how the girls played against a good team," said head coach Matt Micros.

In the 88th minute, the Rams' Patrice Maro found teammate Shannon Reardigan on a through pass up the middle and Reardigan scored from 16-yards out for the game-winner.

Post had a few chances to break the tie in the first half but shots by senior Shannon Bahme (Naugatuck, Conn.) and sophomore Sylvia Yanez (West Haven, Conn.) were blocked. In the second half, senior Tessa Dunster (Stamford, Conn.) had her shot saved by the Rams goalkeeper in the 69th minute.

Junior goalkeeping duo Laura Morgan (Brush Prairie, Wash.) and Brittany Carroll (Plainville, Conn.) combined for seven saves. The Eagles were outshot 22-6 on the afternoon. Yanez led Post with two shots.

The Eagles look to get back on track on Wednesday, Oct. 15 in a non-conference game at St. Thomas Aquinas. Game time is set for 3 p.m.
