Men’s Soccer Falls To Philadelphia, 4-1

Fossie Scores First Goal of the Year

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The Post University men's soccer team was defeated by Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) rival Philadelphia 4-1 on the road Saturday afternoon. Senior Donald Fossie (Yaounde, Cameroon) scored his first career goal in defeat.

"Philadelphia is a really good side. We played well but I thougtht there were some questionable calls by the referees that skewed the score line," said head coach Ted Haley.

Philadelphia jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first half. Seiji Rose put the first goal home off a free kick that hit the crossbar and went in. In the 38th minute, Armando Canela extended the advantage with his first goal of the year.

Junior Tiago Martins (Porto, Portugal) had a few chances for Post, who had four shots in the first half.

The Rams opened up a 4-0 lead in the second half on goals by Ishmaiah Calwrie and Victor Chagonda.

Post got on the board in the 64th minute with a man down. After a corner kick, Fossie and senior Mamadou Balde (Conakry, Guniea) each had shots blocked. Fossie booted home the rebound off the Balde shot to the left side of the net.

The Eagles played with nine players for the final 20 minutes of the contest and was outshot 21-13 on the afternoon. Shots on goal were closer with the Rams holding a 7-5 advantage.

"I'm proud of the way our guys fought. We had some chances and showed a lot of heart today under the elements. We feel we still have a good shot at a playoff bid, but these next few games are very important," added Haley.

Post takes a break from conference play on Wednesday, Oct. 15 as it hosts Bentley of the Northeast-10 Conference. Game time at LaMoy Field is set for 3 p.m.
