WATERBURY, Conn. – The Post University sprint football team dominated on both sides of the ball in a 54-14 Collegiate Sprint Football League (CSFL) victory over Princeton at LaMoy Field on Saturday afternoon. Freshman
Greg Volpe (North Haven, Conn.) passed for two scores and ran for another in his first-career start at quarterback.

Volpe finished with 112 passing yards and 61 yards on the ground. Freshman
Renard Whyte (Ellenwood, Ga.) ran for 89 yards and a score. Senior
Rashaun Reid (Derby, Conn.) had a team-high 69 yards receiving. Freshman
Josh Cohen (Canyon Lake, Calif.) recorded 5.5 tackles and a fumble recovery.

The Eagles (2-1, 2-1 CSFL) started the onslaught early as they put up 21 points in the first quarter. Volpe found Reid for a 69-yard touchdown pass on the first play of Post's second possession. Freshman
Michael Romingo (Baltimore, Md.) blocked a punt on the ensuing possession and recovered the ball in the end zone as the Eagles took a 14-0 lead midway through the opening quarter.

After a Princeton punt, sophomore
Jay'Len Mahan (Waterbury, Conn.) caught a screen from Volpe and took it 43 yards up the sideline to put Post ahead 21-0 late in the first quarter.

The special teams struggles continued for the Tigers late in the quarter. The snap to punter Chad Cowden was high on 4-and-12 from the 50-yard line. Cowden recovered the ball at the Princeton 17-yard line as the Eagles gained possession deep in Tigers' territory.

Freshman
Dean Bickley (Decatur, Ga.) ran it in from 8-yards out early in the second quarter as Post took a 28-0 lead. Princeton got on the board midway through the period as Cowden found Alex Momenee from 7-yards out.

Post answered back with touchdowns on its next two possessions. Bickley hit freshman
David Coggins (Waterbury, Conn.) through the air for a 53-yard score. Freshman
James Harrington (Danbury, Conn.) scored his third touchdown of the year with a rush from 31-yards out as the Eagles took a 41-8 lead with 1:34 left in the half.

Freshman Fabien Santa Cruz (Vista, Calif.) forced a fumble and Cohen recovered at the Eagles' 20-yard line to end a promising Tigers' drive late in the half.

Volpe put Post ahead 48-8 midway through the third with a rush from 46-yards out. Bob Dougherty hit Kadeem Cohens for a 58-yard score late in the fourth to cut the deficit to 48-14. Whyte found the end zone after a 38-yard rush for the final margin.

Post recorded a season-high 409 yards of total offense including 240 on the ground. The Eagles held the Tigers to just 14 rushing yards. Senior
Shaquille Williams (St. Augustine, Fla.) and sophomore
Anthony Jamele (Terryville, Conn.) had 2.5 and 1.5 sacks, respectively.
The 54 points by the Eagles is the highest single-game total in school history.
