WATERBURY, Conn. – The Post University sprint football team returns to LaMoy Field on Saturday, Sept. 28 for a matchup with the winless Princeton Tigers at 1 p.m. The Eagles boast the top-ranked rush defense in the Collegiate Sprint Football League (CSFL). Freshman James Harrington (Danbury, Conn.) leads the conference with 292 rushing yards and sophomore Anthony Jamele (Terryville, Conn.) is first with five sacks and 5.5 tackles for loss.

Last Time Out: Army 38, Post 6 – Box Score | Recap
The Post University sprint football team lost its first road game of the season 38-6 on Friday night against Army. Freshman James Harrington (Danbury, Conn.) had another big game on the ground as he rushed for 152 yards. Harrington began early as he ran for 23 yards on five carries on the Eagles' opening drive, but Post couldn't capitalize and ended up punting. After another Eagles' punt, James Wartski found Kevin O'Brien twice to lead to a Black Knights field goal that put them ahead 3-0 midway through the first quarter.

Senior Daniel Awwad (Waterbury, Conn.) kicked it down to the Post 40-yard line early in the second quarter and it was misplayed by Nolan Jones. Senior Mike Chance (Alpharetta, Ga.) recovered the fumble and returned it 18 yards to the Army 42-yard line, but Post couldn't make anything out of the drive.

With under a minute left in the first half, Martin threw a deep ball to sophomore Jay'Len Mahan (Waterbury, Conn.) who caught it for a 51-yard touchdown to close the gap to 17-6. The point after attempt was blocked by the Black Knights.

On the Eagles' third possession of the second half, Harrington broke his longest rush of the game for 40 yards. Army added another score before the end of the period. Post recovered another fumble on a punt late in the fourth quarter but couldn't get anything going. The Eagles outrushed the Black Knights 117-42 on the night. Martin finished with 102 yards and one touchdown. Mahan had five receptions for 94 yards and a score.

In The League Rankings – Conference Statistics
The Eagles currently rank third in the CSFL in total defense, allowing just 250 yards per game. Post is first in rushing defense and has allowed only 43 yards this season. Harrington leads the conference with 292 rushing yards and an 8.1 yards per rush average. Mahan leads the conference in all-purpose yards with 343; Harrington is right behind him in second with 286 yards. Jamele leads the CSFL with five sacks on the year. Chance is tied for first with two fumbles recovered.

Conference Accolades
Post had two players honored by the CSFL after its week one victory. Harrington was selected as Player of the Week after his 156 yards, two touchdown performance. Mahan had 147 kickoff return yards, including a 91-yard return for a touchdown and was chosen as the Special Teams Player of the Week. It was the third time Mahan was honored as a player of the week after accomplishing the feat twice last season. It was also the first time two Eagles were selected as player of the week in the same week in program history.

Scouting the Tigers
Princeton comes into Saturday with a 0-2 record this season, but has only played one game. The Tigers were forced to forfeit last week's game against Navy because they did not have enough active players. In their opener against Mansfield, Princeton fell 24-14. The Tigers have lost 80 consecutive CSFL games dating back to 1999. Princeton is second in the conference in pass defense, only giving up 77 yards per game. Quarterback Chad Cowden is fourth in the conference with 239 passing yards and two touchdowns.

All-Time Series
The Eagles are 3-0 all-time against Princeton and are 1-0 at home. Last season a touchdown run by Shawn Boose in overtime led Post to a 32-29 victory.

Writing The Record Books
James Harrington broke the Eagles' single-game rushing record with his week one performance of 156 yards. The previous record was held by Dashawn Wingate with a 145-yard game against Princeton in 2011. Anthony Jamele had four sacks against Cornell to break the single-game record of two which was achieved four other times, most recently by Chris Lopez last season against Franklin Pierce.

Senior Rashaun Reid (Derby, Conn.) will look to become the second player in school history to amass 1,000 receiving yards for their career. He currently sits with 766 yards, 244 away from the milestone. Daniel Awwad is the all-time leader in receiving yards with 1068 for his career. Awwad also sits on top with 58 career receptions, while Reid is second with 53 receptions. Senior Chris Lopez (Waterbury, Conn.) sits at with 94.5 career tackles, 25.5 behind Kyle Lagasse's school record of 120.0. David Boyle is tied with Lagasse atop the career interceptions list with four.

Homeward Bound
The 2013 season marks the first time Post will be playing a full home schedule at LaMoy Field. The Eagles have had just two home games in the previous three years and played every game on the road last season. Post is 2-1 all-time at home. Both previous contests were played at Municipal Stadium.

All-CSFL Honorees
Post shattered its school record as 23 student-athletes were named to the All-Collegiate Sprint Football League (CSFL) Team last season. Four received first team honors, including returning seniors Daniel Awwad (Waterbury, Conn.), Chris Masayda (Watertown, Conn.) and David Boyle (Waterbury, Conn.). A total of 13 All-CSFL honorees return from a year ago.

Leading The Way
Head coach Michael Mannetti named seniors Christopher Lopez, David Boyle, Matt Murphy, and Chris Masayda team captains for 2013. All four have been a part of the team since its inaugural season in 2010. Boyle and Masayda were both named First Team All-CSFL a year ago. Lopez led the Eagles with 7.5 sacks. Murphy played in five games and made five tackles.
