Post Women’s Soccer Drops To Chestnut Hill

Carroll Scores In Second Straight Game

Box Score

Waterbury, Conn. – After jumping out to an early 1-0 lead at LaMoy Field, the The Post University women's soccer team gave up five goals in the second half, falling to the Chestnut Hill College Griffins, 5-2 in the team's first Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference game.

Post (1-3, 0-1 CACC) jumped on the board early, as Lexxi Carroll (Plainville, Conn.) cut across the penalty area and blasted a shot past Chestnut Hill goalkeeper, Samantha Pauls. It was the second straight game with a goal for Carroll, her second of the year.

In the second half, the Griffins (1-3, 1-0 CACC) scored early and often as Marykate Mcshane (46th minute), Kelly McKenna (47th minute), and Carly DiGiovanni (50th minute) scored goals from within the box, all aiming high over the reach of Post goalkeeper, Grace McConnell (Leeds, England). McConnell finished with one save on the day for the Eagles.

DiGiovanni added another goal soon after in the 55th minute off of a corner kick by Stephanie Litty.

The Eagles tried to mount a comeback, as Tessa Dunster (Stamford, Conn.) got her first goal of the season, from just outside the box.

It wouldn't be enough as Christina Mangeri finished off the scoring for the Griffins, with a goal in the final minute of the game.

The Eagles were without all-time leading goal scorer Renel Dennis (Queens, N.Y.) who was out with an injury she sustained against Lincoln.

The Eagles return to action on September 21, where they face Goldey-Beacom at 1 p.m.
