HOW IT HAPPENED
This was a match up of the top and bottom team in the CACC but that didn't matter to the Eagles as they were out there giving it their all and going toe to toe with the University of Bridgeport and trying to get a massive upset win. Both of these defenses had very strong showings making it much easier for their goalies to keep the game close.Â
The Eagles had a great opportunity to score in the 35th minute of the game after
Elsa Videhult sent a long ball into the box which pulled the the Purple Knights goalie out to try and stop it but instead it found the foot of Post midfielder
Reese Kloetzer who took the shot on net with no goalie in it but a Purple Knight defender made a great play as she ran in front of the goal and got there just in time to boot the ball away before it went in. Â
The Purple Knights got on the board first in this one in the 39th minute as Keriana Heredia beat Eagles goalie
Celine Gubser to make it 1-0. Heredia was assisted by Ayse Ataol on the goal.Â
The Eagles were out shot 24-5 in the match and 14-2 on goal. The Purple Knights also led the corner kick battle, 5-1.Â
Post defenders
KiAndra Griffith,
Taylor Morales,
April Anderson,
Lindsay Kin,
Martha Joseph and Videhult deserve a lot of praise after their performance in this one after holding the top team in the conference to only one goal. Gubser played another phenomenal game in net for the Eagles as she recorded 13 saves and allowed only one goal.Â
