James Harrington (Danbury, Conn.) ran for 156 yards and two long touchdowns as the Post University sprint football team won its first on-campus home game in its four-year history 21-10 against Cornell on Saturday afternoon. Sophomore
Anthony Jamele (Terryville, Conn.) paced the defense with 8.5 tackles including a school-record four sacks.

The Eagles got the home crowd going early as sophomore
Jay'Len Mahan (Waterbury, Conn.) took the opening kickoff back 91 yards to give Post a 7-0 lead. Cornell answered right back on its first possession as Brendan Miller found Ben Herrera for a 4-yard score to tie the game 7-7 with 12:06 remaining in the first.

Javon Martin (Waterbury, Conn.) threw an interception late in the first quarter. It didn't prove costly as Big Red kicker John Rodriguez missed a field goal from 45-yards out. After an Eagles punt, an 11-play drive for Cornell ended with a 27-yard field goal to take a 10-7 lead with 8:45 left in the first half.

Post's offense was stagnant for most of the first half as they were held to just five yards of total offense. An 18-yard run by Harrington midway through the second quarter gave the Eagles its only first down of the first half.

The defense kept the game close for Post. Junior
Jashua Guadalupe (New Britain, Conn.) blocked a Cornell punt to swing the momentum to the Eagles near the end of the half, but two straight sacks by Jino Park on the ensuing possession halted the Post drive.

The struggles continued early in the second half as the Eagles' first two possessions ended with turnovers. Cornell had a costly unsportsmanlike conduct penalty on a Post third down the kept the Eagles' drive alive. Two plays later Harrington broke a 60-yard run to put Post ahead 14-10 with 5:24 left in the third.

Fabian Santa Cruz (Vista, Calif.) came up with two sacks on Cornell's next possession to continue the momentum swing in favor of the Eagles. After a punt, Harrington took the first play of the ensuing drive 45-yards to the house to extend the Eagles advantage to 21-10 with 2:43 remaining in the third quarter.

The Post defense came up huge again in the fourth quarter. After a five-play drive, the Eagles punted to Cornell's Spencer Grunenfelder. Grunenfelder misplayed the ball as senior
Mike Chance (Alpharetta, Ga.) came in to pick up the fumble at the Cornell 37-yard line.

Cornell tried to close the gap, but an incomplete pass on fourth-and-three gave the Eagles the ball back with 2:12 remaining. A 17-yard rush by freshman
Davon Humbles (Waterbury, Conn.) gave Post a late first down and iced the game.

The Eagles defense held Cornell to just 1-yard rushing on 28 attempts. Post recorded seven sacks on the day. Park had 4.5 sacks for the Cornell. Miller threw for 186 yards as the Big Red outgained the Eagles 198-167 overall.
