Post Women's Soccer Notches First Win Of The Season

Dennis Hurt, But Returns And Scores

Box Score

Waterbury, Conn. - The Post University women's soccer team won its first game of the young season, defeating Lincoln University (Pa.), 2-0 at LaMoy Field in Waterbury.

Post (1-2) dominated possession early, getting a few good looks and shots before Lexxi Carroll (Plainville, Conn.) finally broke through in the 32nd minute and scored after making a fancy dribbling move past Lincoln University goalkeeper, Chloe Grice. Grice was caught out of position after the move and Carroll put it into the net.

There was a scary moment early on as top goal scorer from a season ago, Renel Dennis (Queens, N.Y.) went down with an injury. Play was stopped briefly. Dennis returned in the second half and gave Post a spark, scoring a goal after Carroll sent a beautiful long ball down field. Tessa Dunster (Stamford, Conn.) sent a cross to Dennis who easily put it in the net, giving the Eagles a 2-0 lead in the 48th minute.

The goal for Dennis was the 22nd of her career, adding to her already top spot on the career goal scoring list for Post.

Grace McConnell (Leeds, England), turned away three shots for the Eagles. Chloe Grice had three saves for Lincoln.

Post outshot Lincoln, 14-13.

Up next for Post is its Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference opener at Felician in Rutherford, N.J. at 7 p.m.
