WATERBURY, Conn.. - Post University's equestrian teams have had a busy competition season this semester. On March 2 the Intercollegiate Dressage Team competed in Amherst, Mass. at a show hosted by UMass. The IHSA Western Team, also competing that weekend, rode at Heritage Farm in Easthampton, Mass. at a show hosted by Mount Holyoke College.
At the Dressage show in Mass the Team Captain
Alyssa Segala* of Prospect, Conn. placed eighth with a score of 56.6% in her First Level class. Kat Fish, an Upper Training Level sophomore from Beverly, Mass. took home a ninth place with a score of 53.7%. In the final class of the day
Michelle Rogowski a senior rider from Goshen, New York competed in Lower Training Level to score 56% giving her a sixth place.
The IHSA Western team competed at their fifth show of the season at a show hosted by Mount Holyoke College on March 3, at Heritage Farm in Easthampton, Mass.
Amanda Nygren, a senior from New Hartford, Conn., took home third in Novice Horsemanship.
Stephanie Thibault, a senior from Winsted, Conn., took an impressive first place in Intermediate II Horsemanship with a very nice ride on a somewhat tricky horse. This was Thibault's fourth blue in a row – a fitting way to conclude her college career, having ridden on the IHSA Hunt Seat Team in her Freshman year, and the Western Team as a Senior.
Nygren continued on to Regionals on March 9 in Amherst, Mass. hosted by the UMass Equestrian Team. Nygren was the sole member of the Western Team to qualify for the Regional Show on March 9 in Amherst, Mass. She competed in Novice Horsemanship at the show, which was hosted this year by the University of Massachusetts.
