Box Score

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Post University men's basketball team dropped a road contest at American International, 80-66, on Friday night. Senior Josh Tatum (Greenville, N.C.) led the Eagles with 16 points in just his second game with the team.

Tatum was 8-for-14 from the field and also grabbed six boards. Senior Zach Krischer (Port Jefferson, N.Y.) and junior Mike Manning (Philadelphia, Pa.) each added 10 points. Senior Travis Carbajal (Oklahoma City, Okla.) scored nine points and six rebounds, five offensively.

The Eagles stuck close to the Yellow Jackets in the beginning of the first half. Post held a 6-5 lead with 17:01 left in the period, but Bobby Harris answered with a three-pointer to give AIC a lead that it would not relinquish.

After falling behind by as many as six points, the Eagles cut the deficit to 18-16 on two free throws by Manning. The Yellow Jackets hit from distance on their next three possessions, two by Janek Schmidkunz, as part of a 9-0 run to pull ahead 27-16 with 8:56 remaining in the period.

Post battled back to pull within three at 27-24 with an 8-0 run with 6:35 left. Tatum, who scored 14 of his 16 in the first half, had two baskets during the stretch. AIC built its lead back up to nine heading into the half.

Senior Derrick Strong (St. Louis, Mo.) and Krischer hit from distance as part of a 12-5 run by the Eagles to begin the second half as Post trailed 44-42 with 15:33 remaining in the game. They would not get any closer as AIC built up a double-digit lead. The Yellow Jackets led by as many as 18 before it was over.

Post had just eight turnovers in the game, its lowest total this season. The Eagles' bench outscored AIC 35-15, but were outrebounded 42-31.

The Eagles are back in action on Sunday, Dec. 22 in a non-conference matchup at Saint Anselm. Tip-off is set for 1:30 p.m.
