PREVIEW: Post Welcomes Nyack To Drubner For CACC Contest

Both Teams Enter Game At 1-2 On The Young Season

WATERBURY, Conn.  – The Post University men's basketball team is back at home on Wednesday night for a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) matchup with Nyack. Both teams enter the game at 1-2 overall. The Eagles have defeated the Warriors in each of the last six matchups.

Senior Travis Carbajal (Oklahoma City, Okla.) missed a three-pointer as time expired as the Eagles nearly erased a 16-point second-half deficit in its home-opener on Saturday afternoon. The Eagles outscored the Purple Knights 32-18 over the final ten minutes of the game.
 
Down 84-77 with 0:49 left, senior Zach Krischer (Port Jefferson, N.Y.) was fouled as he made a fadeaway from distance. He made the ensuing foul shot to complete the four-point play and cut the deficit to three points. JoJo Swift was fouled on Bridgeport's next possession and made one of two free-throws to extend its lead back out 85-81 with 0:28 left. Carbajal hit 1-of-2 from the line and Swift answered with two made free throws next time down the court to give the Purple Knights an 87-82 lead with just 0:08 remaining.
 
Senior Derrick Strong (St. Louis, Mo.) found Krischer, who finished with 10 points, in the corner for clutch three-pointer with 0:04 left which cut the deficit to 87-85.
 
Scouting the Warriors
Nyack is 1-2 on the year with its lone victory coming over Mercy, 87-71. The Warriors were picked to finish sixth in the CACC Preseason Poll. Nyack currently has four players averaging double-figures in points, led by Chris Hampton who is at 17.3 points per game. He had a season-high 26 points on 6-for-8 shooting from distance in the victory over Mercy. The Warriors are averaging a CACC-best 41.3 rebounds per game and shooting at a 45.3 clip from distance.
 
All-Time Series Against Nyack
The Eagles are 13-7 all-time against the Warriors and have won the last six matchups. Post has not lost at home to Nyack since 2010.

Eagles Among CACC Leaders
Travis Carbajal leads the conference in field-goal percentage at 76.9% and AJ Harris is sixth at 60.0%. Harris is atop the conference in steals per game at 4.7 per outing. As a team, the Eagles lead the CACC with 10.0 steals per game and are second with 8.0 three-pointers made per game. Post is also fourth in the conference with 79.3 points per contest.
 
Honored For Defensive Prowess
Junior AJ Harris (Inglewood, Calif.) was named CACC Defensive Player of the Week on Nov. 11. In his Eagles debut against Southern New Hampshire on Nov. 9, Harris recorded seven steals, which was the highest single-game total since the 2006-07 season. He was the first Post player to earn a weekly award since Stephen Perry Jr. (Westhampton, N.J.) was named Player of the Week on Nov. 27, 2012.
