WATERBURY, Conn. – The Post University sprint football team ends its season on Saturday afternoon at Franklin Pierce in the CSFL Talon Cup. Both teams are currently tied for third place in the Collegiate Sprint Football League (CSFL) with records of 4-2. The Eagles will be looking for their second-consecutive five-win season.

Sophomore
Greg Volpe (North Haven, Conn.) threw for a season-high 378 yards and three touchdowns as Post won its home finale against Penn 43-12 last Saturday. The Eagles recorded a season-high 578 yards of total offense. After falling behind 3-0, the Eagles (4-2) scored touchdowns on their next three possessions to open up a 21-6 lead midway through the first quarter.
Freshman
David Coggins (Waterbury, Conn.) hauled in his team-leading fourth touchdown pass of the season from 15 yards out early in the second quarter as Post took a 28-6 lead. Sacks by junior

The Eagles milked the clock in the fourth quarter and added a field goal by freshman
Sam DiMauro (Middletown, Conn.) with 5:10 remaining in the game. Freshman
Josh Cohen (Canyon Lake, Calif.) ended Penn's next drive with his first-career interception and the Eagles ran out the clock for the victory.

Scouting the Ravens
Franklin Pierce comes into the week with a record of 4-2 and is tied with Post for third place in the conference. Last week the Ravens defeated Mansfield at home 27-24 in overtime. Franklin Pierce is fifth in the CSFL in total offense (303.0 yards/game) and fourth in defense (310.3 yards/game). They are led by D.J. MacDonald who leads the conference with eight rushing touchdowns and is second with 530 yards on the ground. James Willette is sixth in the league with 43 tackles.

In The League Rankings – Conference Statistics
The Eagles currently rank third in the CSFL in total defense, allowing just 291.8 yards per game. Post is also third rushing defense with 70.5 yards allowed per game. Harrington leads the conference with 658 rushing yards and a 7.1 yards per rush average. Harrington and sophomore
Jay'Len Mahan (Waterbury, Conn.) are third and fourth, respectively, in the CSFL in all-purpose yards. Volpe leads the conference ein passing yards per game (230.0), pass efficiency (187.2), and total offense (240.0). Jamele is second in the CSFL with 9.5 sacks on the year and the Eagles are second with 22 total sacks. Chance is tied for first with two fumbles recovered.

Conference Accolades
Post has had four players receive weekly honors from the CSFL this season. Most recently,
Greg Volpe was named Offensive Player of the Week for his 378 yard, two touchdown performance against Penn.
Michael Romingo was selected as Special Teams Player of Week after the Eagles' victory over Princeton. Romingo recovered a blocked punt in the end zone for a touchdown. Post had two players honored by the CSFL after its week one victory. Harrington was selected as Player of the Week after his 156 yards, two touchdown performance. Mahan had 147 kickoff return yards, including a 91-yard return for a touchdown and was chosen as the Special Teams Player of the Week. It was the first time two Eagles were selected as player of the week in the same week in program history.

Writing The Record Books
James Harrington has had games of 170 and 156 rushing yards this season, the two highest single-game totals is school history. The record of 170 came this past week at Mansfield. He also holds the single-season rushing record with 658 yards this year and is the career leader with seven rushing touchdowns.
Anthony Jamele had four sacks against Cornell to break the single-game record of two which was achieved four other times, most recently by Chris Lopez last season against Franklin Pierce. Jamele holds the single-season record with 9.5 sacks this year.

Senior
Rashaun Reid (Derby, Conn.) will look to become the second player in school history to amass 1,000 receiving yards for their career. He currently sits with 937 yards, 63 away from the milestone.
Daniel Awwad is the all-time leader in receiving yards with 1323 for his career. Awwad also sits on top with 69 career receptions, while Reid is second with 61 receptions. Senior Chris Lopez (Waterbury, Conn.) sits at with 109.5 career tackles, 10.5 behind
Kyle Lagasse's school record of 120.0.
David Boyle is tied with Lagasse atop the career interceptions list with four.

Homeward Bound
The 2013 season marks the first time Post will be playing a full home schedule at LaMoy Field. The Eagles have had just two home games in the previous three years and played every game on the road last season. Post is 4-2 all-time at home. Both previous contests were played at Municipal Stadium.

All-CSFL Honorees
Post shattered its school record as 23 student-athletes were named to the All-Collegiate Sprint Football League (CSFL) Team last season. Four received first team honors, including returning seniors
Daniel Awwad (Waterbury, Conn.),
Chris Masayda (Watertown, Conn.) and
David Boyle (Waterbury, Conn.). A total of 13 All-CSFL honorees return from a year ago.

Chris Masayda team captains for 2013. All four have been a part of the team since its inaugural season in 2010. Boyle and Masayda were both named First Team All-CSFL a year ago. Lopez led the Eagles with 7.5 sacks. Murphy played in five games and made five tackles.
