WATERBURY, Conn. – The Post University sprint football team wrapped up its home schedule with a 43-12 victory over Penn on Saturday afternoon at LaMoy Field. Sophomore
Greg Volpe (North Haven, Conn.) threw for a season-high 378 yards and three touchdowns in the victory.

Daniel Awwad (Waterbury, Conn.) caught five passes for 148 yards and two scores. Sophomore
Jay'Len Mahan (Waterbury, Conn.) had 125 yards receiving on four catches. Freshman Reynard Whyte (Ellenwood, Ga.) ran for 107 yards and a score.

After falling behind 3-0, the Eagles (4-2) scored touchdowns on their next three possessions to open up a 21-6 lead midway through the first quarter. Volpe found Mahan for a 47-yard pass and Whyte ran in from 13 yards out on Post's first possession. Volpe ran it in from a yard out after a 67-yard connection with Mahan and Awwad caught a 45-yard score to build the early lead.

David Coggins (Waterbury, Conn.) hauled in his team-leading fourth touchdown pass of the season from 15 yards out early in the second quarter as Post took a 28-6 lead. Sacks by junior

James Harrington (Danbury, Conn.) scored his seventh touchdown of the year on the Eagles opening possession of the second half as Post went ahead 34-6. The score was setup by two long first down catches by senior
Rashaun Reid (Derby, Conn.).

Awwad caught is second touchdown pass on the Eagles next possession from 39 yards out. Harrington broke a 47-yard run to setup the score. Post had 200 yards on the ground on the day.

A failed fake punt by the Eagles on their own 38-yard line to begin the fourth quarter setup the Quakers in great field position. Penn quarterback Mike McCurdy found Brendan Dale for a 12-yard score to cut the Post lead to 40-12.

The Eagles milked the clock on their next possession which ended with a field goal by freshman
Sam DiMauro (Middletown, Conn.) with 5:10 remaining in the game. Freshman
Josh Cohen (Canyon Lake, Calif.) ended Penn's next drive with his first-career interception and the Eagles ran out the clock for the victory.

Post amassed 578 yards of total offense, the second-highest total in school history, and held the Quakers to 287 yards. The Eagles had four sacks on the day, led by Jamele with 1.5. The sophomore finished with a team-high 6.5 tackles. Freshman
Anthony Chacho (Oakville, Conn.) had five stops and broke up two passes.

The ten senior members of the Eagles were honored with a pre-game ceremony.
The Eagles close out their season next week in the CSFL Talon Cup at Franklin Pierce on Saturday, Oct. 26. Kickoff is set for noon.
