WATERBURY, Conn. – Coming off a nail-biter at Mansfield last weekend, the Post University sprint football team returns home for a pivotal Collegiate Sprint Football League (CSFL) game against Navy on Saturday, Oct. 12. Navy is making its first-ever trip to Waterbury and enters with a 3-0 record and one of the top defenses in the league. The Eagles have not lost at home this season. Post will be celebrating Armed Forces Appreciation Day at the game.

Post withstood a fourth quarter comeback last Saturday in Mansfield to improve to 3-1 on the season. The Eagles jumped out to a 35-7 lead on two rushing touchdowns by freshman

Ben Pepper threw his third touchdown pass of the game with 10 seconds left to put Mansfield within two points at 35-33. The Mountaineers went for a two-point conversion to tie the game, but freshman
Anthony Chacho (Oakville, Conn.) intercepted the attempt and returned it 100-yards to give the Eagles two points and the 37-33 victory.

Scouting the Midshipmen
Navy enters the week at a record of 3-0 on the season and are in second place in the CSFL. The Midshipmen did not play last week. Last time out, Navy defeated Mansfield 41-0 and held the Mountaineers to just 46 total yards. David Williams leads the team with 143 rushing yards and two touchdowns. Navy boasts the top defense in the conference having allowed only nine points overall and 82 yards per game. The Midshipmen also lead the CSFL with 238 rushing yards per game.

The Eagles have never defeated Navy in two previous matchups. Saturday will be the first time the Midshipmen have come to Waterbury. Last season, Post took an early 7-0 lead but fell 37-14.

In The League Rankings – Conference Statistics
The Eagles currently rank third in the CSFL in total defense, allowing just 280.8 yards per game. Post is also second rushing defense with 32.2 yards allowed per game. Harrington leads the conference with 507 rushing yards and a 7.8 yards per rush average. Harrington and sophomore
Jay'Len Mahan (Waterbury, Conn.) are both in the top five in the CSFL in all-purpose yards. Volpe is second in passing yards per game (189.0) and passing efficiency (219.5). Jamele leads the CSFL with 6.5 sacks on the year and the Eagles are second with 15 total sacks. Chance is tied for first with two fumbles recovered.

Conference Accolades
Michael Romingo was selected as Special Teams Player of Week after the Eagles' victory over Princeton. Romingo recovered a blocked punt in the end zone for a touchdown. Post had two players honored by the CSFL after its week one victory. Harrington was selected as Player of the Week after his 156 yards, two touchdown performance. Mahan had 147 kickoff return yards, including a 91-yard return for a touchdown and was chosen as the Special Teams Player of the Week. It was the third time Mahan was honored as a player of the week after accomplishing the feat twice last season. It was also the first time two Eagles were selected as player of the week in the same week in program history.

Writing The Record Books
James Harrington has had games of 170 and 156 rushing yards this season, the two highest single-game totals is school history. The record of 170 came this past week at Mansfield. He also holds the single-season rushing record with 507 yards this year and has tied the career record for rushing touchdowns with five.
Anthony Jamele had four sacks against Cornell to break the single-game record of two which was achieved four other times, most recently by Chris Lopez last season against Franklin Pierce. Jamele is one sack away from tying the single-season record of 7.5 set by Lopez last year.

Senior
Rashaun Reid (Derby, Conn.) will look to become the second player in school history to amass 1,000 receiving yards for their career. He currently sits with 867 yards, 133 away from the milestone.
Daniel Awwad is the all-time leader in receiving yards with 1142 for his career. Awwad also sits on top with 62 career receptions, while Reid is second with 56 receptions. Senior Chris Lopez (Waterbury, Conn.) sits at with 99 career tackles, 21 behind
Kyle Lagasse's school record of 120.0.
David Boyle is tied with Lagasse atop the career interceptions list with four.

Homeward Bound
The 2013 season marks the first time Post will be playing a full home schedule at LaMoy Field. The Eagles have had just two home games in the previous three years and played every game on the road last season. Post is 3-1 all-time at home. Both previous contests were played at Municipal Stadium.

Post shattered its school record as 23 student-athletes were named to the All-Collegiate Sprint Football League (CSFL) Team last season. Four received first team honors, including returning seniors
Daniel Awwad (Waterbury, Conn.),
Chris Masayda (Watertown, Conn.) and
David Boyle (Waterbury, Conn.). A total of 13 All-CSFL honorees return from a year ago.

Chris Masayda team captains for 2013. All four have been a part of the team since its inaugural season in 2010. Boyle and Masayda were both named First Team All-CSFL a year ago. Lopez led the Eagles with 7.5 sacks. Murphy played in five games and made five tackles.
