RUTHERFORD, N.J. – The Post University men's basketball team dropped a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest at Felician on Tuesday night. The final score was 71-64. Junior
Devin Willis (Seattle, Wash.) led the Eagles with 17 points. Sophomore
Braxton Gardner (Bridgeport, Conn.) led all Post reserves with eight points, his best output since he joined the Eagles this season.
After Felician (7-12, 5-7 CACC) opened up a 13-3 lead over the first 3:51, a spurt that was capped by a triple by Anthony D. Green. However, with 7:52 to play in the opening stanza, Gardner sank a pair of field goals on consecutive possessions to pull Post within five. The Eagles trailed 17-12 at the 7:17 mark.
The Golden Falcons used a 13-4 run over a span of 3:36 to claim a 14-point lead, 30-16, with 3:14 to play in the opening half. Felician scored the final four points of the period to take a 37-24 lead into halftime.
With 10:40 to play in the contest and Post behind 55-42, the Eagles went on a 13-4 run over the next 3:47 to cut a 13-point deficit to as few as three, 58-55, with 6:53 to go. The spurt opened with a three-pointer by Willis. After junior
Zach Krischer (Port Jefferson, N.Y.) sank a jumper, Gardner drained a triple to pull Post within five points. The run capped with a three-point play by senior
Jake Wilcox (Kent, Wash.). Wilcox finished the game with six assists and three steals.
Felician scored six straight points after the run to hold Post at bay and extend its advantage to 64-55 and 3:55 to play in the contest.
Post was limited to 34.5 percent field goal shooting (19-for-55) and Felician shot 41.3 percent (26-for-63) from the floor. The loss dropped the Eagles to 12-9 overall and 8-6 in conference contests. Antoine Obrey led Felician with a game-high 24 points on 9-for-18 shooting. He grabbed 15 boards.
