Jay'Len Mahan (Waterbury, Conn.), the Post University sprint football team fell to Army in the 2012 Adirondack Trust Allegiance Bowl on Saturday afternoon at Saratoga Springs High School. The final score of the Collegiate Sprint Football League (CSFL) contest was 63-28.
Post (0-1, 0-1 CSFL) trailed by just seven points at halftime, but the Black Knights outscored the Eagles 42-14 in the second half. Individually, Carter completed 14 out of 27 pass attempts for 195 yards, and senior
Daniel Awwad (Waterbury, Conn.) caught four passes for 81 yards. Mahan and senior
Rashaun Reid (Derby, Conn.) made four catches each. Defensively, the Eagles were led by senior
Kyle Lagasse (Waterbury, Conn.) who totaled 13 tackles and one tackle for loss. He made 10 solo stops on the day.
After a fourth down stand on the opening possession by the Post defense, it grabbed a 7-0 lead on the ensuing drive, which started in Army (2-0, 1-0 CSFL) territory. Carter found Mahan over the middle for a 19-yard touchdown pass to give the Eagles a 7-0 lead with 11:56 to play in the opening period.
The Black Knights knotted the score at 7-7 at the 4:54 mark of the first quarter after a two-yard touchdown run by Javie Sustaita. Sustaita finished the day with four passing scores and three rushing touchdowns.
After Army took a 14-7 lead at the 10:17 mark of the second quarter, Post answered immediately to level the score at 14. Keyed by a 10-yard gain by

Robert Williams (Waterbury, Conn.) for a 44-yard touchdown aerial strike. The Black Knights added a score before halftime to take a 21-14 lead into the locker room.
The Black Knights scored on their first possession of the second half on a 27-yard touchdown pass from Sustaita to John Herina to give Army a 28-14 lead with 11:40 left in the third period. Post never got closer than 14 points for the remainder of the game.
Sustaita finished the game 31-for-48 for 318 yards for Army. Marquis Morris was the leading rusher with 88 yards, while Tom Jeffers and Cody Nyp totaled 80 yards apiece on the ground. With the win, Army moved to 2-0 this season and 1-0 in CSFL matchups.
Post will be back in action on Friday, Sept. 28, when it travels to Annapolis, Md., for a CSFL contest at Navy. Kickoff is slated for 7:30 p.m.
