PREVIEW: Women's Soccer To Open Season, Three-Game Homestand Against Georgian Court Friday

Eagles To Host Nine Contests This Season



WATERBURY, Conn. - The Post University women's soccer team begins the 2012 regular season on Friday afternoon when it hosts Georgian Court at 4 p.m. in a CACC matchup. The contest will serve as the season-opener for both teams.
 
The Eagles finished the 2011 campaign in eighth place in the CACC, while Georgian Court claimed fourth place and a berth in the conference semifinals. In the 2012 Preseason Coaches' Poll, Post was tabbed 10th, while Georgian Court was slated to finish third.
 
Post returns three of its top four scorers from the 2011 campaign in Renel Dennis, Danielle Charette, and Sabrina Sinopoli. Dennis scored nine goals and tallied 21 points, while Charette and Sinopoli totaled three and two goals, respectively. 

Notes:
SERIES HISTORY:
Post is 1-10-2 against Georgian Court since the Eagles became a Division II program. Head Coach Matt Micros is the only coach to ever defeat the Lions. Post is 1-2-1 against the Georgian Court at home.

PRESEASON PROGNOSTICATIONS:
Post was tabbed 10th in the CACC Preseason Coaches' Poll on Aug. 23. The Eagles garnered 64 points.
 
HUMBLE HOSTS:
Post University and the men's and women's soccer programs will serve as the host of the 2012 CACC Men's and Women's Soccer Championships. The Waterbury-based school will host the semifinals and championship games on Nov. 1-3 at LaMoy Field.
 
ON THE HORIZON:
The Eagles will continue their season-opening three-game homestand on Tuesday, Sept. 4, against St. Thomas Aquinas. First touch is slated for 4 p.m.
