Post’s Win Streak Snapped By NYIT

Eagles Program-Best Streak Comes To End In Shutout Loss To Bears

MIDDLEBURY, Conn. – The Post University men's tennis team saw its program-record three-match win streak come to a close as the squad suffered a 9-0 loss to NYIT on Monday afternoon at Edgewood Bath & Tennis. The Eagles lost all nine matches on the day and suffered their first loss in the month of April.
 
NYIT (9-7) took all three doubles matches to start the day. Freshman Dreshawn Lewis (Norwalk, Conn.) and junior Mark Risbridger (Southampton, England) was the only tandem to win a game. In second doubles, Lewis and Risbridger dropped an 8-1 decision to Vojislav Pecikoza and Pedro Peixoto.
 
In singles action, freshman Christ-Brian Amedjonekou (Queens, N.Y.) fell to Dustin Wenchel at the top spot in the lineup. The final score was 6-2, 6-1. Senior Markeese MCleod (Waterbury, Conn.) fell at sixth singles, 6-2, 6-1. His opponent was Eduardo Maurtua.
 
Post will wrap up its five-match homestand on Thursday, April 12, when the Eagles host St. Thomas Aquinas. First serves at Edgewood Bath & Tennis are slated for 3:30 p.m. The match will be the final home date of the season for the men's tennis program.
