DANBURY, Conn. - The Post men's tennis team will play its first of eight home matches this spring on Friday. The Eagles will host #48 University of District Columbia at Danbury Sport & Wellness. First serve is slated for 3 p.m.
The Eagles were picked to finish sixth in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Preseason Coaches' Poll.
The Firebirds are ranked 48
th in the nation and third in the East Region. UDC is 6-0 on the year and has only dropped four points the entire year. On Feb. 27, Simon Andersson was named East Coast Conference (ECC) Player of the Week.
GAME NOTES:
SINGLE-SEASON WINS TOTAL:
During the 2010-11 year,
Danny Bonamassa set the program's single-season record for wins with seven. He claimed the mark with an 8-6 win at sixth singles against Philadelphia. He finished the season 7-4.
SLEEPER REACHES THIRD ROUND:
Freshman
Dreshawn Lewis reached the third round of the USTA/ITA Regional Tennis Championship on Sept. 19. It was the best result in the event in Eagles' history. Lewis cruised to 8-3 and 8-1 wins in the first and second rounds, respectively.
PRESEASON PROGNOSTICATIONS:
The Eagles were picked sixth in the CACC Coaches' Poll, which was released on Feb. 10. Post was awarded 16 points by the league's seven coaches. #4 Concordia was the unanimous favorite to win the league for the third straight season.
SERIES HISTORY:
Post and UDC met for the first time last season in the District of Columbia, and the Firebirds posted a 9-0 victory over the Eagles.

ON THE HORIZON:
The Eagles will take on Pace on Thursday, March 15, with match time scheduled for 3 p.m. Post will begin CACC competition against Chestnut Hill at home on Friday, March 16.
