MIDDLEBURY, Conn. – The Post University men's tennis team won its first home match of the 2011-12 season, after the Eagles cruised to a 7-2 non-conference victory over American International at Edgewood Bath & Tennis on Thursday afternoon. Sophomore
Danny Bonamassa (Staten Island, N.Y.) held Chandler Long at love in the fourth singles match.
In addition to Bonamassa's shutout victory, freshman
Dreshawn Lewis (Norwalk, Conn.) netted a 6-2, 6-1 triumph at second singles over Nick Lyon. Junior
Mateus Garcia (Sao Lourenco, Brazil) rounded out the contested singles victories for Post (2-7). Garcia tallied a 6-0, 6-2 victory over Jason Popek at third singles.
Lewis teamed with junior
Mark Risbridger (Southampton, England) at second doubles. The Eagles' pair defeated Popek and Long 8-1.
With the win, Post defeated American International (0-3) for the first time in program history.
The Eagles will continue a five-match homestand on Sunday, April 1, when Post hosts Caldwell in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) match. The contest will be held at Edgewood Bath & Tennis in Middlebury. First serves are slated for 1 p.m.
