The Post University volleyball team looks to rebound from a tough loss at the hands of Caldwell as they host two Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) matches this week. The Eagles host Nyack on Friday, Oct. 12 at 7 p.m. and Chestnut Hill on Saturday, Oct. 13 at 1 p.m.
 
Nyack is two games ahead of Post in the CACC North Division at 9-7 overall and 6-3 in conference play. The Warriors have won four out of their last six matches, but fell to Georgian Court 3-0 their last time out. Senior Moana Masaniai leads the CACC with 3.40 kills per set. The Warriors are third in the conference with 11.46 kills per set and 16.61 digs per set.
 
Chestnut Hill is currently riding a five-match losing streak, but still has two matches to play before Saturday. The Griffins are sixth in the CACC South Division at 6-13 overall and 2-6 in the conference. Junior Mary Markowski is fifth in the CACC in hitting percentage at .275. Chestnut Hill is tough around the net as it averages 1.58 blocks per set, good for third in the conference.

The Post University volleyball team fell in five sets to two-time defending CACC Champions Caldwell. Sophomore Julia Slyaktina (Moscow, Russia) recorded 51 assists on the night, the Eagles highest total since the 2007 season.
 
The Eagles looked out of it midway through the fifth set as they fell behind 11-6. A kill by Hayes capped a 4-0 run, as Post cut the deficit to 11-10 and forced a timeout by Caldwell. The Cougars pulled ahead 14-10, but the Eagles closed the gap to one again after two Caldwell errors. Rachael DiLeonardo recorded a kill to end Post's upset bid.
 
Junior Emily Wilman (Perth Amboy, N.J.) had a season-high 17 kills and 17 digs, her fourth consecutive match with double-digit kills. Senior Kelly Hayes (South Orange, N.J.) added 12 kills and 23 digs. Graduate student Kelli Reynolds (Stamford, Conn.) led all players with 19 kills. Slyaktina had six service aces in the defeat.

The Eagles are 6-5 against Nyack since the 2007 season, but have fell in their last three matchups. Post has not defeated the Warriors in Waterbury since 2009.

Post holds a 4-1 all-time record against Chestnut Hill and has shutout the Griffins in all four of its wins. The Eagles fell on the road to Chestnut Hill last season.

REYNOLD RECEIVES HONORABLE MENTION:
Kelli Reynolds received an Honorable Mention from the CACC in the Oct. 9 release. Reynolds posted 19 kills while hitting .459 overall and adding a pair of blocks in the Eagles 3-2 defeat at the hands of Caldwell on Oct. 3. She leads Post with 133 kills on the season and is second with six solo blocks and 18 block assists. This marks the second time Reynolds has received the honor in her career, with the first coming on Oct. 17, 2011.
 
1,000 DIGS FOR THE CAPTAIN:
Senior captain Kelly Hayes (South Orange, N.J.) recorded 11 digs at Franklin Pierce on Sept. 15 to give her 1,000 for her career. Hayes became the seventh student-athlete in Post history to reach the 1,000-dig milestone.  Coming into the week, she sits at 1,007 digs and is 12 behind Courtney McGinnis (2001-04) for sixth on the all-time list.
 
EAGLES AMONG CACC LEADERS:
Julia Slyaktina is averaging 0.56 service aces per set, good for third in the conference. Slyaktina is seventh in the CACC with 409 assists. Kelli Reynolds is fourth with a .277 hitting percentage. The Eagles as a team are fourth with 1.85 service aces per set and fifth with a .165 hitting percentage.
 
PRESEASON PROGNOSTICATIONS:
Post was selected to finish fourth in the CACC North Division in the Aug. 24 poll. The Eagles garnered 55 votes. Caldwell was picked first in the North with 95 votes, while Holy Family was chosen first in the South with 94 votes. Each received 11 first-place nods.
 
BRIENZA NAMES HIS CAPTAIN:
Sixth-year head coach Michael Brienza named senior Kelly Hayes (South Orange, N.J.) the 2012 team captain. Last season, she ranked second on the team in digs with 256, and was the team leader in digs during the 2010 season with 303.
