Women’s Soccer Dropped By In-State Rival Bridgeport 2-0

Junior Goalkeeper Grace McConnell Makes 17 Saves In Loss

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – The Post University women's soccer team fell to in-state rival Bridgeport 2-0 in a non-conference match at Knights Field on Wednesday afternoon. Junior goalkeeper Grace McConnell (Leeds, England) made 17 saves in the defeat, one short of her season-high.
 
Bridgeport (8-4-2) seized a 1-0 lead with 3:24 remaining in the first half. Chelsea Green scored her first goal of the season after a cross deflected past McConnell off an Eagles' defender. The Purple Knights took a 1-0 lead into the intermission.
 
Becky Wallis added an insurance goal in the 76th minute when she drove a shot into the back of the net from the top of the 18-yard box. Giuana Prugger was credited with the assist on the Bridgeport tally.
 
Post got its lone shot on goal in the match from junior Renel Dennis (Queens, N.Y.). She took all three shots for the Eagles in the game.
 
For the match, Post was outshot 34-3 and Bridgeport put 19 shots on goal. The Purple Knights held a 5-2 advantage in corner kicks.
 
The Eagles will play their final road contest of the season when they travel to Holy Family for a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game on Saturday, Oct. 20. The opening touch is scheduled for noon at Tigers Field.
