MANSFIELD, Pa. –The Post University sprint football team notched consecutive victories for the first time in program history after it picked up a 28-3 Collegiate Sprint Football League (CSFL) win at Mansfield on Saturday afternoon. With the result, the Eagles picked up their first win over Mansfield and avenged a 34-0 loss from a season ago. Post sits at 2-2 on the season and has a winning percentage of .500 for the first time since it opened last season with a win at Cornell.
“We put everything together today and we played well in all three phases of the game,” head coach
Michael Mannetti said. “We were able to sustain drives, and convert and score. As a team we played disciplined football. This was a great team win.”
Defensively, Post (2-2, 2-2 CSFL) did not allow a touchdown in the contest and held Mansfield scoreless for the final three quarters of play. The Eagles have not allowed a touchdown over the last 70:45 of play. Junior
Christopher Lopez (Waterbury, Conn.) tallied a team-high 8.5 tackles, two forced fumbles, a fumble recovery and a sack. He added three tackles for loss.
Freshman
Jay'Len Mahan (Waterbury, Conn.) amassed 129 receiving yards on four catches. He scored twice, including an 80-yard reception, which matches the longest touchdown catch in program history. Additionally, his 129 yards receiving is the fourth 100-yard receiving output in Post sprint football history and ties for the third-best output in a single game. Classmate
Shawn Boose (San Diego, Calif.) was the Eagles' leading rusher with 86 yards and one rushing and passing touchdown apiece.

Dwayne Carter (Anchorage, Alaska) connected with a wide open Mahan for an 80-yard touchdown pass. Kicker
Peter Cleary (Waterford, Ireland) added the extra point to give Post a 7-0 lead with 12:32 to play in the first quarter.
After the Eagles tacked on a safety to grab a 9-0 lead, Mansfield (1-3, 1-3 CSFL) converted a 35-yard field goal to pull within six, 9-3, with 1:28 to remaining in the first quarter.
The Eagles grew the lead to 18-3 by halftime with a Cleary 28-yard field goal and a 37-yard touchdown reception with 5:29 to play in the stanza.
Cleary converted his second field goal in as many attempts, a 33-yard kick, to increase the Post lead to 21-3 with 5:15 left in the third quarter. On the first play of the fourth quarter, Boose converted a 3
rd-and-9 for a 66-yard touchdown run to increase the lead to 28-3 with14:47 left in the game.
For the game, Post maintained an advantage in time of possession and held the ball for 33:03. The Eagles went 3-for-4 on fourth down conversions and held the Mounties to 0-for-4. Post dominated the total offense and gained 354 yards in the matchup and held Mansfield to just 141.
Post will aim for its third straight win when it travels to the University of Pennsylvania for a CSFL contest on Friday, Oct. 19. The opening kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Franklin Field.
