Live Stats

WATERBURY, Conn (September 29, 2011) For the first time in the history of Post University athletics, the Eagles will face off against Navy at Marine Corporal Stadium in Annapolis, Maryland Friday afternoon. Both teams are the only undefeated teams in the Collegiate Sprint Football League this season. Navy leads the standings with Post in second.

The Matchup:
Navy and Post University are the only two undefeated teams in the CFSL and stand one two in the league standings respectively. Navy possesses the second strongest offense with 432 yards, only five yards behind Army with 437 yards.

The Eagles are the best team in the league defensively after holding Cornell to only 189 yards offense.

Last Week:
Last time out the Eagles won a drama filled game in the rain against Cornell to open the 2011 campaign. After trailing 10-6 at halftime, it was a scoreless third quarter. Dylan Celone scored early in the fourth quarter with a 1 yard rush to make it 13-12. Later in the quarter, Tony Simpson caught an 18 yard pass from Erich Broadrick putting the Eagles up 19-13.

Cornell scored again with 9:23 to retake the lead with a 20-19 advantage. With 36 seconds to play, Rashawn Hendricks scored his second touchdown of the night with a 7 yard rush as Post University held on for a 25-20 victory.

New Faces:
Several new faces emerged last week for the Eagles as players to watch throughout the 2011 season. Hendricks, who did not get the start last week, made an immediate impact in the game with two touchdowns with 55 yards on 16 carries.

Freshman quarterback Erich Broadrick was 14-of-24 for 176 yards last week including four of five completions on the game winning drive. He had one touchdown pass against Cornell.

Defensively:
The game against Cornell last week was won by the Eagle defense. A Kyle Lagasse interception in the fourth quarter changed the momentum of the game propelling Post University past Cornell. Lagasse ended the day with five tackles.

Matt Santos also stepped up for the Eagles with six solo tackles and totaled seven on the day with two sacks.

Last week the Eagles held the Big Red to only 189 yards of offense and 49 yards rushing.

Scouting Navy:
Last time out, Navy dominated against Penn winning 56-0 with 403 yards rushing and 59 yards passing. Navy likes to run the ball and they will look to put the pigskin in the hands of David Williams, a sophomore running back. Williams rushed for 219 yards on 24 carries against Penn and was named CFSL Offensive Player of the Week.

Last season the Midshipmen scored 16 rushing touchdowns, yet this season they are already up to nine just two games in. Williams and Marty Meehan each have four touchdowns this season.

Up Next:
Next week the Eagles make a return trip to Philadelphia to take on Penn, the site of Post University's first sprint football game.
