Muamer Ahmetovic, Alamin Ripon and Mike McDonald each came up with singles victories, but the Post University men's tennis team fell to Bloomfield College, 6-3, on Tuesday afternoon in Waterbury.
The Eagles (1-2) took three of the six singles matches in the meet, but came up just short in each of the three doubles matches.
Ripon, a sophomore from Bristol, Conn., got things started by cruising to a 6-0, 6-0 singles defeat of Bloomfield's Luis Perez.
Muamer Ahmetovic also overpowered his singles opponent, winning a dramatic first set, 7-5, before dispatching Bloomfield's Andres DeCasto 6-1 in the second set.
Mike McDonald was victorious in a thrilling match against the Deacons' Steven Hobart, prevailing 7-6 (7-5), 7-6 (1-5).
The Eagles fought hard in each of their three doubles matches, but just didn't have enough.
Caio Rodrigues and Hylton Davis fell to Andres Decasto and Lordale Benosa, 9-7, in the first match.
Markeese McLeod and Mike McDonald lost to Evan McCall and Peter Beckford by the same score in the final match of the day.
Post University will return to the courts on Thursday, when they travel to New York to take on Pace University.
