Eagle Men Defeated By Bloomfield

BLOOMFIELD, N.J. (December 8, 2011) The Post University men's basketball team was defeated to conference foe Bloomfield on Thursday night. The loss is the Eagles first conference defeat of the season as they now stand at 1-6 (1-1) overall.

Turnovers by Post let Bloomfield storm out of the gate on a 9-2 run four minutes in, which they extended to a 36-18 lead with 8:21 remaining. The Eagles fought back to close out the half, outscoring the Deacons 14-5 in the final eight minutes, cutting the deficit to 41-34 at the break. Josh Lopez had a strong period with 10 points, making two out of three three-pointers down the stretch.

Post came out in the second half and cut the lead to four early on a Zach Krischer three one minute in. Kevin Udo scored a layup for the Deacons seconds later, and an Eagle turnover led to another Udo basket as Bloomfield extended it to 45-37 at 17:39.
Bloomfield outscored the Eagles 20-8 over the next eight minutes to put themselves ahead 63-45 with 9:02 remaining. Post tried to pull closer and cut the deficit nine with about six minutes left, but the Deacons were too much, defeating the Eagles 80-69.

Krischer was the Eagles leading scorer with 18 points on the night. He was 7-for-14 shooting and made four three-pointers, all of them in the second half. Lopez added 14 points and five boards in the effort. Mike Stepovich provided some great minutes off the bench with 12 points and four rebounds.

The Eagles held the conference's leading three point shooter, Terry Hicks, to just 2-for-9 from beyond the arc. Hicks finished with 15 points in the victory.

Post will be heading out to Philadelphia to take on USciences on Saturday afternoon.
