Game Notes: Men’s Basketball Hosts Bridgeport Monday Night

Post University (2-7, 2-1) vs. University of Bridgeport (6-4, 2-0 ECC)

The Eagles look to close out 2011 on a high note as they welcome Bridgeport to the Drubner Center on Monday night in their final game before the holiday break. Post is looking to rebound after a tough 77-55 loss to Le Moyne over the weekend.

Scouting The Purple Knights          
Bridgeport comes into Monday's contest having won their last three games, most recently a 66-57 victory over Mercy. Darian David leads the Purple Knights offense with 17.8 ppg. He has also been a force on defense with 20 steals. Bridgeport also boasts the East Coast Conference's leading rebounder in Eion Lewis at 8.8 rpg. As a team they are averaging 75.9 ppg and have blocked 42 shots.

Series History
The Eagles have not had much luck against the Purple Knights in recent years, losing five of the last seven matchups. Earlier this season, Post took a 45-33 lead into halftime, but an 11-0 Bridgeport run in the second tied the game at 59-59 with 8:27 remaining. The teams battled back and forth during the final minutes, but the Purple Knights prevailed 83-77.

Getting To The Glass
The Eagles have had a tough time grabbing rebounds this season. They have been outrebounded in every game except the victory over Felician. Overall their opponents have 80 more boards on the season than Post. The Eagles best performance on the glass came in the season-opener against Southern Connecticut where they grabbed 45 rebounds.

Defense Wins Championships
Turnovers and steals have been a bright spot so far for Post. They have created over 20 turnovers in five games this season and have a margin of -31 overall. As a team they have caused 19.3 turnovers per game and lead the conference in that category. The Eagles have also used their full-court press to steal the ball 79 times through nine games. The 8.8 spg average is good for third in the CACC.
