Eagles Men’s Basketball Falls Late To Bridgeport

BRIDGEPORT, Conn (November 22, 2011) The Post University men's basketball team was defeated on Tuesday night in Bridgeport. The Eagles are now 0-4 on the season heading into their home opener next week.

Post came out strong early hitting three straight three pointers to take a 25-11 lead with 10:15 left in the first half. The hot shooting continued as the Eagles led by 12 at the half at 45-33. Geraldo Fernandez scored 14 points in the first half after shooting 4-5 from beyond the arc. The Eagles as a team shot 8-11 from three.

The second half started out well for the Eagles as they pushed the lead to 14 five minutes into the period. Bridgeport trimmed the lead, scoring 11 straight points in under two minutes, tying the game at 59-59 with 8:27 left. The Purple Knights run stole the momentum and the Eagles would never lead again as they fell 83-77.

Fernandez led the Eagles with 24 points, as he shot 6-11 from three on the night. Josh Lopez had 17 points and five assists in defeat. After shooting 50% in the first half, the Eagles were just 38.7% in the second. Bridgeport shot 56.7% in the second half on their way to victory. Post was outscored 56-22 in the paint on the night.

The Eagles will be at home Wednesday night against C.W. Post.
