WATERBURY, Conn (October 22, 2011) On Senior Day the Post University women's soccer team was defeated by Holy Family, 2-1. The Eagles now stand at 6-7-0 (6-4-0) with two games remaining.
In the first half the Eagles were outshot 7-4, but
Grace McConnell kept the Tigers off the board by recording six saves in the half. Post had some opportunities with the best coming on a
Sabrina Sinopoli shot at 29:01 that was saved by a diving Gina Mansi.
Sinopoli had another shot at 68:00 off a corner kick by
Renel Dennis. She headed it towards the goal and it hit the top post and rattled out. Holy Family broke through at 73:40 when Megan Tole scored off a rebound after a McConnell save.
Tole added another five minutes later after an Amanda Trabosh shot hit the post and landed right at her feet and she chipped it in to give the Tigers a 2-0 lead.
McConnell finished with 12 saves on the day. Sinopoli and Dennis led the Eagles with four shots each.
Senior captain Megan Hanson was honored before the game. She was a four-year starter for the Eagles, scoring seven goals and recording six assists in her career.
Post will be back in action on Tuesday afternoon against Saint Thomas Aquinas.
