WATERBURY, Conn (October 19, 2011) Post University's Sprint Football team will travel to West Point Friday afternoon for their first matchup with Army. The Eagles are coming of a dominating 48-0 home win over Princeton on Friday.
Last Week:
In the game against Princeton the Eagles flat out dominated the Tigers with 603 yards of offense on 70 plays. Post had possession of the ball for 38:50 even though the game ended with 7:34 to play in the fourth quarter due to heavy rain. The Eagles combined 369 yards of rushing offense with 234 yards of passing in the contest.
Stealing the show on the ground was
Dashawn Wingate who ran for 147 yards, a Post University single game record.
Rashawn Hendricks added 139 yards and is now up to 229 on the season and is third in the league.
Kyle Staten pitched in with 65 yards of his own.
Dwayne Carter continued to impress in what was his first start last week. Carter was 12-for-21 with four touchdowns on 234 yards. Carter did not throw an interception the contest. He has played in four games, although has only started in one and that was against Princeton. Even so he is still ranked among the top five in the conference while taking at least 24 less snaps than his competition.
The Eagles pride themselves in defense and against Princeton had eight sacks while allowing the Tigers only 67 yards offense.
Scouting Army:
Army is one of the strongest teams in the CFSL. They are currently tied at the top of the standings with Navy with a 3-0 record. Last week they downed Cornell 41-16 on the road, a team the Eagles defeated 25-20.
Army leads the league in offense with 500 yards per game average. Army will look to work the passing game as they have thrown for 1,378 yards this season compared to 622 yards rushing. Quarterback Javier Sustaita has 100 completions in 163 attempts with only three incomplete passes. Most often Sustaita will look for Tom Jeffers was has 365 yards receiving.
Army has outscored their opponents by 100 points this season with a majority of their scoring coming in the third quarter.
