Friday's Game:
Friday the Post University Eagles (1-2) take on the Princeton Tigers (0-4) for the second time in program history. Last season, the two teams played in New Jersey with the Eagles picking up their first-ever win with a final score of 33-18.
Last Time Out:
Last week the Eagles fell to Penn in Philadelphia 48-35 in a high scoring affair. The game reinforced the point that the Eagles have been a second half team throughout the season. Post is yet to score in the first quarter, has six second quarter points, and has scored 54 second half points.
I'm going with Carter:
Dwayne Carter has established himself as a force to be reckoned with after generating 306 yards of offense passing, 57 yards rushing, three touchdown passes, and a 2 yard touchdown rush in the second half against Penn last week. Carter is slated to get the nod against Princeton with the goal of sparking the Eagle offense early.
It Starts on Defense:
In the short history of Post University Sprint Football the Eagles are known as a defensive team. The Waterbury duo of Kyle Lagasse and Chris Lopez lead Post's defense. Lagasse has recorded 18 solo tackles and a total of 22 along with one interception. Lopez his 16 solo stops with 20.5 on the season boosted by 2 sacks totaling 14 yards.
Of the 105 points the defense has given up this season, only 27 points have been scored against the Eagles in the second half.
Francisco Who?
Francisco Sastre is his name and he hails from Sao Paulo, the largest city in Brazil. Francisco is a soccer player turned football kicker who is catching on quickly. After missing three extra point attempts against Cornell in a rainy season opener, Sastre went 6-for-6 against Penn last week. Although he has had to get used to wearing pads instead of shin guards, he has learned to make a full body tackle including a key stop on a punt return against Penn preventing a Quaker touchdown.
Scouting Princeton:
Princeton has played four games this season, but is yet to find victory. Last time out the Tigers fell to Army 57-13. The team is led by senior running back Kevin Infante with 172 yards on the season. Quarterback Jais Zachariah has thrown for 532 yards including one touchdown. He has connected most often with Nicolas Lulli for 194 yards and Kees Thompson with 167 yards.
Up Next:
Next week the Eagles travel to take on CFSL powerhouse Army at West Point. Princeton will host Navy.
