WATERBURY, Conn. (January 8, 2011)--Four players scored in double figures as Post University hammered Wilmington, 80-55 Saturday at the Drubner Center.
Josh Lopez led Post University (6-7, 4-1 CACC) with 12 points, and
Rishawn Johnson and
Spencer Smith each added 10 for the Eagles.
Geraldo Fernandez had a fine debut for Post University, scoring 11 points and adding plenty of energy on the defensive end. Fernandez transferred in this semester from Sullivan Community College in New York.
The Eagles blitzed the Wildcats (5-8, 3-2 CACC) right from the start; putting together a 28-7 first half run that turned a tie game into a 39-18 Post University lead.
The Eagles led 42-22 at halftime.
Post University forced 22 Wilmington giveaways, outscoring the Wildcats 26-1 in the all-important points-off-of- turnovers category.
The Eagles also dominated in the paint, outscoring Wilmington 36-18.
The Wildcats were led by Herbert Dennis and Robert Owens, who each had 10 points. Corye Payton added 9 points and 8 rebounds for Wilmington.
Post University returns to action on Thursday, when they travel to Felician College.
